The 2014 FIFA World Cup Final was a football match that took place on 13 July 2014 at the Estádio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to determine the 2014 FIFA World Cup champion. England defeated Germany 2-0, with the first goal being scored by Wayne Rooney in the 42nd who took the ball on the left wing, after a cross field ball from Raheem Sterling before cutting through the defence and curling it into the top corner from 20 yards. Daniel Sturridge scored the second in the 94th minute smashing home from 30 yards as Germany pressed for an equaliser.
